Married to my BFF!
the wedding turned out very beautiful. the weather held up for us — it was overcast, but that was actually great because it kept things cool. there was a slight breeze, but no rain! the humidity wasn’t too bad, but the moisture in the air wasn’t very kind to my hair. Mark looked SOOOOO handsome in his tux!!! the cake was GORGEOUS, but the six-course meal filled everyone up so full that hardly anyone ate any cake! we actually had to give alot of it away to guests… it turned out that when the reception was upgraded from a buffet-style “picnic” to the six-course “Feast of Fantasy”, it meant we got to enjoy the entertainment, too: the Charming Hooligans, an improv comedy act. it was so much fun!
oh, but back to the wedding itself. apparently, the festival built a sort of archway for the wedding, in the middle of the “forest”.
it was made up of columns and benches, and it was realyl quite lovely. our guests had to stand for the wedding, but it wasn’t that bad. Grand Diva, of course, performed the ceremony (she’s a notary), and Li’l Miss Diva was our ring-girl — we didn’t have an aisle to walk down, so there wasn’t much need for a “flower girl”, and i didn’t have time to make the ring pillow we originally planned….instead, i got a really pretty basket, and fashioned a cusion of sorts inside it, and put the rings in a heart-shaped paper-mache box that i painted irridescent ivory/gold, and i glued a tiny calla lily to the top (my bouquet had calla lillies in it) on top of that cushion. so Ash gets to keep the basket, and it made her feel like a flower girl instead of a ring bearer. we also got her a pair of the cutest little pink glittery shoes to wear, and she loved them!
at the last minute, we realized i didn’t have anyone to hand off my flowers to when it came time to do the rings, but my friend Heronomus (no, that’s not his real name!) had brought his babies’ momma (never mind that the babies in question are now teenagers!), and she was in costume, so i asked her if she’d mind standing by so i could hand her my bouquet. she did, and it turned out very well.
there’s so much more to tell about it, but i’m so excited and still tired, and it’ll all go up on the website when that’s done, too…
oh, and we decided not to take the honeymoon right away, because we want to be able to prepare and really enjoy it… and since it turns out the weather is crappy today, i’m happy about our decision. today, we’re just being lazy and hanging out together; something we don’t often get to do, since he normally works on the weekends!
